Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) is one growing research and development (R&D) topic within the cybersecurity domain. CPS uses the technologies of electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) and information technology (IT) for communication between the physical components and environment and information processing. Some examples of the CPSs include the autonomous vehicles (AVs), smart electric grids, robotic systems, industrial control systems (ICSs), and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The UAVs (the subject of this proposal) in their current designs have limited computational power on-board and communication channels that are open posing security risks in the hostile environment. With the ever-growing and sophisticated cybersecurity threats, the technologies of artificial intelligence (AI) such as machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods seem promising for auto engulfing and responding those threats. The purpose of this proposal is to determine the technical feasibility and preliminary efforts of commercialization of the products or technologies of research and development (R&D) topic: Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) cyber threats and real-time machine learning (RTML) defenses.
